The breezes at dawn have secrets to tell
you must ask for what
you really want.
Don't go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth

Across the doors
where the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
Don't go back to sleep.

Imagine Your Lite Body

A 4 Session Hypnotherapy Program for Weight Loss

By Surja Jessup

Imagine Your Lite Body is a program which uses the power of hypnosis for weight loss. Many of us have experienced that diets don’t work, often because of underlying emotions, subconscious resistance or self sabotage. Our best intentions may get undermined by a voice within us that says, “I am just going to forget my commitment for today”, or “it’s a special occasion", or “I need to reward myself”.  Where were these voices when we made that decision to eat healthy food and exercise and love ourselves? The problem is that we are not of one mind. We contradict ourselves.

The hypnotherapy process I use calls these conflicting voices sub-personalities. There may be the achiever, the addict, the rebel, the victim, the romantic, etc. But what we often forget is there is a powerful voice within us that is the true self which wants the best for us, loves us, knows the healthy choices to make, and wants to lovingly take care of us. I call this voice the Wise Self. The Hypnotherapy process involves harmonizing the contradictory sub-personalities within the self, honoring their intention and reframing the parts to support new behavior which creates success. When the conflicting  parts are seen for what they are, and acknowledged but not believed, the Wise Self can be heard and direct us to choose what we really need for health, vitality and weight loss.

We came into the world indelibly connected to the Wise Self, but as a child we were often helpless in terms of our circumstances, and challenging events in our lives began to create stories, beliefs and unconscious programming that created identification with a false self. The false self created many voices and  strategies for survival.  Addiction, rebellion, feelings of victimization, anger and acting out are some of the strategies, that often appear in the teenager or young adult connected with food and weight gain. Underlying these behaviors are deeper emotional issues which can be healed with the power of Hypnotherapy.

In the hypnotic journey, the Wise Self gives these parts a new job to support eating healthy food in moderates amounts, engaging in enjoyable exercise, and thinking positive inspiring thoughts. In the Lite Body Program a hypnosis CD to listen to at home which has suggestions that support the desired behavioral change for weight loss are included.

The success of the program, however, depends on looking at the emotional causes of over-eating or not exercising or not loving and taking care of ourselves. Through working with the emotional body and releasing the anger, hurt, and stories from the past which block success, it is possible to heal the child within, and act with affection and caring toward ourselves. The Wise Self begins to re-parent us, and success is ours.

There is also  a spiritual component underlying weight and body image issues. This is the loss of the identification with the Wise Self which is often connected symptomatically with addictive or self-defeating habits. When this happens there is a loss of “Presence” which gets covered up with fearful, negative  thoughts connected with the past and projected onto an imaginary  future. The truth is that NOW is an absolutely fresh beginning every moment, and reclaiming NOW is part of the success of the program. A CD, which has a mindfulness based meditation on it, comes with the Lite Body program for regular use. This allows us to regain a connection with the underlying Presence of NOW, and implicit in the present moment is the connection to the Wise Self  which is always here, always holding us wisely and lovingly, and when there is a realization that we are whole, not empty, the addictive cycle ends.
